I wish someone here had mentioned this when I asked : Other things to do while doing T-Belt ...
There are a couple coolant hoses to do while doing Belts & Pumps.
Turbo Coolant Return line (see bottom photo here) - replace with 3/8" 10mm Coolant Hose - remove and clean out the Banjo bolt Coolant Heater hose (see the short piece of hose here) - replace with 3/4" Coolant Hose Thermostat -> Radiator -> Coolant Reservoir Line Be very careful to : - pre-fill the coolant lines (esp the Thermostat-Radiator line) before starting engine up again. - heater on full & wait at least 10 mins until temp reaches the mark i.e. thermostat opens and all the engine/block/head passageways fill with coolant - keep filling the reservoir Also check you CV boots while your at it ;-) "Club of (Former) B5 Owners" ? I'm a regular. Where are you located ?

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4s6/msgs/69243.phtml</a

|
By mileage I think you mean gas mileage .... right ? 14~25 mpg on 91
I got 190K on stock turbo's
I found the head was already cracked and head gasket had started leaking Preventative maintanence can kill a fragile old engine - do it carefully. |
thanks, vrlife. i'll be doing t-belt, water pump and coolant hoses next week.
