So who locally has upgraded their clutch/Flywheel? What Clutch/Flywheel?

And Can i swing by and take your car for a drive. I'm trying to decide what direction I want to go, but I'm just not sure...

SPEC Stage 3 with LWFW 80K miles NO Issues...Believe it or Not.

I can reccommend them highly, but others will Scream no. I do not reccommend the LWFW for 1.8t cars the lack of resiprocating weight and no real torque makes for a hard starter.

Once your moving its no issues, but getting started in most street situations is a chore.

If you have less than 350 Bhp I would highly reccommend the SPEC Stage 2 Clutch and STOCK Flywheel. If you Road Race every weekend then maybe the LWFW.

GatorAl just did a new RS4 setup and LOVES it. S4 though.

Don't get the southbend clutch. At least not the dual surface. Rivets holding 2 surfaces together

sheared at 6.5K miles.

wasn't that a clutch you bought 2nd hand off someone

Nimrod (Jody) 12-19-2006 05:11 PM

Nope. Brand new clutch.

Jon-1.8t 12-20-2006 05:17 AM

I thought so, just wasn't sure... is your car down still?

i have AWE stg2 with alum flywheel.

i'd probably replace with stock everything if i had to do it again. you can drive it anytime after the holidays.

runoverb4 12-24-2006 07:59 AM

whatever you do, DONT GET A LWFW

just assume it will rattle and sound like a diesel. thats what mine did. cost me a thousand bucks to replace it. plus it gets really easy to stall in city driving, especially in traffic.

I have run a LWFW for 80K+ The rattling noise is from transmission...

I have run a LWFW for 80K+ The rattling noise is from transmission preload and is completely normal for a LWFW. The noise comes from the factory tolerances for preload for a 40+ lbs fly. When you remove 30+ lbs from the load it alows the gears to rattle a little because there is no "Built in" load. It does not hurt anything and can be fixed with a slightly heavier cold lube. Like instead of a 5/90 use a 10/90.

If you install a LWFW you will be able to drive much better at track events, because rev matching is like cake baby cake.

If runoverB4 replaced his fly because of noise alone then i fear he wasted $1000.00. Of course if you hated the way it drove to then.

This link is to my sight for clutches. Read the descriptions for better clarifications.

http://www.tunerswarehouse.com/pages/spec-info.htm</a
