interesting. I have a '14 too. Cracks in the Rotors?

Yes, had a persistent rattle over bumps.. and they traced it to a failed front disc... replaced both fronts under warranty.

Thanks everyone. I talked to an Indie mechanic and it looks like it'll be about $1600 max with oem parts. It's amazing how the dealer can even suggest a price like $2800!

I usually buy parts for all my cars from rockauto.

For my Q5 dealer asked 1600$, replaced brakes myself for 120$.

See first screen shot below for both Audi list, and discounted web type dealer price--audiusaparts.com/Sunset Audi in Portland OR for that particular screen shot. Meaningfully less than $900 for pair, even at list. You can also see pads and sensor price in second screen shot. Cheaper than the "indy" places like ECS BTW when dealing with dealer source parts.

Just got my pads and rotors from this site. $987 with shipping. Question for the group..

I didn't buy new sensors, because they weren't engaged yet. My thinking is that they'll still be waiting (to engage) when the new pads get worn down ... Right, or wrong?

I didn't change mine when I installed the new pads.

You only need new sensors if either 1. the warning brake wear warning has come on by the time you do the job, or 2. you break them somehow during the pad change. The sensors are sacrificial and wear through a contact that turns the warning light on when pads are down to their last 2 or 3mm. Until that happens the sensors from prior pad fitment will still have same functionality as if they were new.

Totally correct, though the only problem I've had when re-using is that heat makes them fragile. Be careful when removing and re-installing as they can break.

Anyone replace yet? The dealer just quoted me $2880!!!!!

What's the mileage that you have on your SQ5? I was just told that I need to replace both my rotors and brakes because they recommend that I do so. I brought my car brand new, I'm the only driver, I only serviced my car at Audi Dealerships (I'm not sure if that matters) and nobody can tell me the normal thickness of the rotors when they are brand new. So at this point I feel as if they are trying to force me into a position that does not make sense. I called other dealerships to compare and I even called Audi USA. I'm not sure what is normal for changing rotors and brakes together for Audi. I kept getting the answer that every time I change my brakes I have to change my rotors....... Has anybody had to do this yet?

what size are your brake rotors? SQ5 380mm?

New rotor thickness is 36mm and rotor wear limit is 34mm.
