Any recent update on this? Have others been able to get the updated firmware to resolve this issue?

Its been fixed in the last MMI update. It's a dealer update item though.

Thanks for the confirmation. It would have been nice if the dealer would have notified me of the available updates during my recent service I payed hundreds of dollars for.. I guess it is up to the customer to request it.

That lies the problem with, not only Audi but most dealers, useless you specifically ask for it or there is a problem on the standard operation of the vehicle. They don't see a need to apply any fixes or updates.
