if that ruinted your opinion of the S4, than why did you purchase this car, its not meant for you...

from the looks of things youre either still young and havent finished runing red lights and pissing off cops, or you just dont appreciate german engineering.

Bergx7 02-03-2007 11:24 PM

lol....

you must be new around here...and looking at your front end bodywork choices...im guessing...no...hoping you are young too. I have been around this forum since the B6 came out...I also have worked for Audi...and I have two mercedes in addition to the audi...I think I appreciate german engineering...

My point was not to be inflammatory (i know people have been touchy around here recently) but to highlight a fantastic automobile from a company that still understands keeping things simple (proven engine thats been around for awhile) and lightweight. S4 and evo arent in the same class imho, S4 is much more refined and solid...Just was surprised at how much i liked the evo...and it made me realize how isolated from the road you are in the S4.

i agree.. i also like the STi... not to start a flame war...

Went from STI to S4 one month ago...

Totalled my '06 STI on Dec. 22 (first accident ever..ugh) and grabbed a red '04 S4 the very next morning. Both good cars; we all know the differences - and I missed the cachet of being in a nicer EU car (used to have a Viggen, have a '05 allroad that is DIP'd etc.). STI had a flimsy feel to it, but was relatively inexpensive brand new and was fun - and fast. In sum, though, I am much happier in this composed, strong and buttoned-down feeling S4, even with the odd clutch/throttle feel.

I got to drive one that was stage oneeleventy through a mountain pass...the steering

was so responsive and controllable you could spin the car on its front and the upgrades had it so fast you couldnt lift your head off the back of the seat. VERY fun car

my front end bodywork isnt nice?... hah... evreryone loves the oettinger front bumper.

what makes you think i have to be a young guy to have an oettinger front bumper?... i didnt like the S4 one, it looked soo puny and "un-aggressive"

Build quality sucks on the Evo. Dealer gave me one as a loner. Felt way too cheap to me.

liggy 02-04-2007 08:58 AM

; ) I'm not going to run out and get an Evo. It's just so fugly that I don't care how

good it may be. IMO it's the car equivalent of a "paper bag job"

The Evo wouldn't be any fun for me unless you were at the track or driving on the streets in a license threatening manner.

Re: my front end bodywork isnt nice?... hah... evreryone loves the oettinger front bumper.

sorry, the oetty bumper is great, i was referring to the grille job (seems like color matching things on cars that arent black tends to be done by the younger crowd...not my cup of tea but its totally up to personal taste)
