Ah I'd run a quart low...

the oil change on my car is 15,000 miles and it's 9.3 quarts so I'd rather run it slightly low till I could get to the store and get some good stuff.

If I was seriously low...I'd take my WIFE'S car to the store

hehehehe.

The manual states 0w-30 synthetic factory fill.

Not hard to believe since Vettes and Vipers are "born" with sythetics in the crankcase.

Cheap Audi dealers?

A small gripe with Audi dealers I have is that they will not provide synthetic oil for "free" scheduled maintenance oil changes. Synthetic oil is in the engine when sold new. At about $2/quart max price difference between say Mobil One and regular Castrol....6 quarts needed max.....about $12 bucks....spend $40K and get slighted $12 worth of oil. I would think Audi would want the best quality oil...thus synthetic formulations....to ensure slightly less warranty repair costs associated with long-term engine wear and tear. Go figure.....Audi.....they should do the math. Really my only small gripe so far (8500 miles).

Yup 2001.5 if you want to be specific.

Ask him for a definition of "high-detergent" dino oil.
