Now I'm perplexed... TBB is fine, but have a over boost problem.

Symptoms: low rpm WOT leads to a big spike in boost (20 psi), back down to 10-12, and slow climb again.

Car: '01.5 6 speed, running AMS T-Box. All else stock.

I thought it was a TBB, so I pulled it off, and it's in perfect shape.

I did a pressure test, and at 10 psi the Y-Pipe to DV hose springs a large leak. I can't tell if there's any other leaks.

Where else should I look? The IC hoses look fine. I didn't hear any whooshing or anything.

The car has NEVER done anything like this before.

Thoughts?

You can always kick some of that extra boost down to me. I'll take it =).....

Could it be a bad n75??

reefer_bob 12-03-2004 01:23 PM

Bad N75... Hmmm... I don't know. Could it?

Funkweasel 12-03-2004 01:29 PM

It can be but they usually fail the other way boost wise. Check your wastegate

lines to make sure they're not leaking. That can cause what you're seeing.

After you do that shoot me an email and I'll tell you what to log and all to see if something else is the problem. I assume you have no DTCs?

Checking for DTC's now. My laptop batter died. :(

So Troy what do you think of the idea of a mbc at 12lbs on k03's with a stock chip =) ???

Funkweasel 12-03-2004 02:10 PM

You'll almost certainly throttle cut. mbc only ->definite throttle cut. A bleed valve

pre-n75 or something might be ok. You're just gonna have to chip it.

It's an M-Box, AMS said they "reprogrammed" the T-Box

rojodosformula::red 12-04-2004 02:59 AM

Ahhhhh that's not what I wanted to hear Troy
