I'll say one thing - if the speed sensor on a manual dies, the car can still go into reverse.

I would think TCU failure is more common than that sensor... Maybe not.
How much is that going to set you back to replace? Or is it diyable?
My TCU died a while back.

Well, the part is only $55 bucks or so, but then you need the trans fluid and a pan gasket which knowing Audi are probably $200 or so. And then you have to get it in there, warm it up, and check the level. Thats if you DIY. My guess is a dealer would charge near a $1000 or so around here. I'd call to find out but then I'd have to get the car towed there. All in all I'd rather pay for a new TCU - its way easier to DIY.

Blau kit and order some extra fluid... A fluid change was quoted at $1k last time I asked for kicks.
