S7 real world fuel mileage

Found nothing about this in search. I'm considering getting an S7. It will be used 60% or so as a long distance trip car. What kind of mileage are people getting on steady highway cruises? I know that urban mileage won't be great, but I am interested in what I may get on trips.

My other choice may end up being a TDI A7, but I'd prefer the handling, brakes and sport diff of the S7.

I just got an S7, and I am taking it on a trip that is 500 miles each way, with a five days of in town driving in between legs. I will post the results when I return.

The big question is if you get a S7 what speed are you planning on driving 65 75 80+ . At 70 mph im getting about 25 mpg. But when you go to about sayyyy 90 it drops down to about 23.5 if you got the a7 TDI you would get better mpg. But let me tell you she is sweet at 110

THX for your help! I'll be interested to see what you get. Have a safe trip.

I typically drive 7-12 mph over the posted limit. I will be getting this car mostly as a slightly early retirement present and plan to do lots of traveling.

At a steady 75-80 MPH, I regularly see 26-27 MPG based on the trip computer. In cold weather, city driving, or with a heavy foot, that number will drop a lot and quickly. Over the last 3500 miles of 60% city driving, I'm averaging 18 MPG overall. Not bad considering the power. The key with this car is to run at speed that keep it in V4 mode. There's a noticeable improvement in gas mileage.

how annoying ( or how smooth) is the V4 mode? I have a RAM Hemi ( tow vehicle and hauler) which has it. Obviously it doesn't have dynamic engine mounts and the noise suppression that Audi uses. It's really annoying and rough around town, but not too bad at highway speeds. It saves maybe 3 MPG on the highway.

I have a Chevy 1500 with a V4 mode that's very obvious but on the S7 there is absolutely no clues to V4 engine operation at any speed.... no vibration or noise. Completely undetectable.

Thanks Bill.

Just returned from my trip - about 1000 mi total. Overall mileage was 23.9. The mileage on the way up (which included some stop and go traffic) was about 24.2mpg. On the return trip we averaged 25mpg with an average speed of 70mph. There were some sections where we had some slow traffic, and some other sections where we went 90. During one 100mi stretch where I drove a fairly steady 65mph we got 26mpg.
