I got 24-25 mpg from NY to Florida. I get as low as 17 in city driving stop and go. I average about 21-22mpg overall

Hate to bring up such an old thread, but I haven't found another one on this.

I've had my '16 S7 for about 2500 miles, and the mileage relatively to the ratings is the problem. The car is rated at 17/27 and I've averaged 22.4 mpg since I've gotten the car. My two previous cars, a '15 Chevy SS was rated at 14/21 and I got 22.5 avg, and my '09 G8 GXP was rated at 13/20 and I got 22.3 avg (yes, I keep track). Both of these cars had a 415 hp naturally aspirated V8 with a manual trans. My driving and commute have not changed. The average mph has also stayed the same at about 38 mph.

The Audi has V4 mode and start-stop, which the other two do not.

If I am getting the same mileage, yet the ratings are so different, is it possible Audi/VW cheated on the tests as they did with the diesels? I'm ok with the mpg, it's just so bad relative to the ratings.

I find that temperature has a lot to do with your actual mileage. I normally will get an average of 23 MPG during my commute during the warm months and it drops to about 20 MPG in the winter. We made a round trip to Florida this winter. On the trip down it was pretty warm and it was warm when we were there. I got over 28 MPG during highway driving (at 85 or so MPH). Coming home is was very cold, warmest we saw was 30°F, and at the same highway speeds I could only get about 25 MPG.

The big question is if you get a S7 what speed are you planning on driving

The COD which drops the 4.0tt into 4 cylinder mode, makes it a pretty good mpg motor despite the engine size and weight of the car.

I usually sit around 26/28MPG, in dynamic mode with box in sport mode most of the time, at between 70-80MPH on the freeway. Around town it drops to 19/20MPG.

Most of my driving is around town - and I'm in the 13-15 mpg average - although Pittsburgh is a tough environment for city mileage. I am also around 26-28 on highway.

What is "E5" - Is that part of the Tune? (some sort of hidden economy mode?)

There is a hidden mode that you can enable, although people say it does not do much unless you have certain features installed. I've found that it very slightly allows you to maintain a lower gear over the regular D mode when city driving. For highway driving I would say it makes zero difference.f

Glad to see this thread pop back up. I've started monitoring my gas mileage more actively in the last month. I'd say I get about 14-15 City and 22-24 highway. Highest MPG number I've hit was 29.
