Need help on settings for Boost Maching

Ive tried a veriety of settings not sure which one is best.

I know every car is different, but which settings are good for: Performance, All around and Fuel enonomy

It seems that at 2.50-3 turns on the regulator is optimal but i could be totally wrong

Mods i have (that would make a differance:
TTDA and Revo 93
Also got Vag-Com if needed for logging.

What's your boost gauge say?

If you try to adjust to fast and too aggressively you'll get poor results. Follow the tuning instructions and start again if that's the case. Set the onset right at the threshhold (usually 1-1.5 turns or just as the valve starts to get stiffer). Adjust boost to desired levels per my guidelines working your way up slowly 1/2 turn at a time. Once set, drive the car for awhile and let it adapt. None of this is good for fuel mileage BTW....:-)

Also, every car is different and since you're dealing with pressure gauges, the "turns" are just a rough approximtion of what's best.

I went through an extensive tuning (retuning actually) with REVO + BM...

Steve is the sheppard, I am just another sheep in the herd, but I am thrilled with the car right now. Take your time like Steve suggests and follow the instructions. Because REVO and the SPS3 offers so much variety, I focused on setting that first and then devoted myself to the BM. Ended up targeting 18psi with REVO alone...BM off entirely...for me that meant LB7, T4 with 93 fuel. I then slowly optimized the BM regulator to dial up the boost to about 22psi...about 6 turns. Then the relief valve to help with onset...about 1 turn. The car is a hammer, with excellent day to day drivability. I have a few more mods than you that might make a diff but this is how I went about the optimization. Hope it helps.

Good point Mike....>

You can only go UP with the BM, not down so starting out as you did with Revo settings lower is the way to go to take advantage of the BM's smoothing ability...

Thank you master!

Interesting, I wondered how the BM and Revo SPS3 might work together . . .

were you holding at 18 with Revo?

Black BeauTTy 10-31-2005 03:02 AM

Yep. That was my target so I could get more out of the BM. My original

REVO settings (pre SPS3) had me at 22psi, so I really couldn't dial up the BM anymore. I like the characteristics of the car more now.
