On Topic Poll: Who would modify their TT with Engine/Turbo upgrades if they were available?

It has been brought to a few people's attention that certain tuners consider the TT market a non-market regarding anything beyond a standard chip.

So, by a raise of hands, who is interested in modification beyond the standard chip? It could be anything from a custom program for an intake to a bigger intercooler, a race chip, or up to bigger turbo kits.

If we have a decent amount of people, I'm sure we can find other tuners that would like to take our money.

I want a ceramic ball bearing turbo!!!!!

gtt 01-07-2002 03:03 PM

I want a Ford GT-40. But......I also am considering stage 3+.

Tron (///M) 01-07-2002 03:03 PM

I would be interested

cause more then likely when this car goes back I am going to buy a 1.8T A4. If I owned the TT then hell yeah..

TTigg 01-07-2002 03:05 PM

I would consider Stage III depending on numbers (HP for cash etc)

RichP 01-07-2002 03:06 PM

Me!!!!

Lightweight-USPowah 01-07-2002 03:09 PM

ME ME ME..

Problem is I have not received my car yet (Should have it by March 16th), but my plan is as follows.. I decided everything will be done in stages due to money and I would also like to fully brake in the car.. I figured if there are any bugs they will come out before I do serious mods..

Stage 1 (all done before this summer/race season)
--Race seats
--Exhaust
--Gauges
--Euro Mirrors
--Race tires/rims
--Lens film

Stage 2
Part A Winterization (all done after this summer before November)
--Snow tires (Nokians. Sp?)
--Matts
Part B (Done after winter around March 03)
--Coilovers
--Brakes
--Chip

Stage 3 (Around March 04)
--Turbo upgrade
--Clutch/Flywheel

Since I am not in a rush Im in a pretty good position, and from what I have heard APR sound like its kit will be interesting.. Really eager to hear what the 225s kit will put out..

Boosted 01-07-2002 03:12 PM

You forgot the 100cell race cat.... its a must

Rennen 01-07-2002 03:13 PM

Not me...I'm not into mods.

ttankguy 01-07-2002 03:14 PM

Me, but now I'm curious--just how fast (0-60/55-70 mph) can we make our cars and at what cost?

hoTTub 01-07-2002 03:15 PM

Its not a question of if for me it is a question of *when*

Boosted 01-07-2002 03:16 PM

for almost 40K you can go 3.8 0-60

Alf Garnett 01-07-2002 03:16 PM

Need you ask?

F**k yeah I want turbo upgrades...I want the go to match the show!!!

gtt 01-07-2002 03:17 PM

These mods are not a value proposition....leaving it stock is......

just a chip is the most cost effective.

Alf Garnett 01-07-2002 03:22 PM

Re: These mods are not a value proposition....leaving it stock is......

True, but for some folks out there, we just have to have more...
Money to burn I know, a waste to invest so much cash into a car which is depreciating daily, but for some of us its the pleasure delivered from knowing we have created a (hopefully) better faster cooler car than Audi had originally sold us,not to mention the grin factor knowing you can really hit 160mph ;-)

ttankguy 01-07-2002 03:23 PM

How much to do low 5's? (hmm, posts don't delete too quick)

?lueshirt 01-07-2002 03:25 PM

Buying a car is not a value proposition. You loose money daily no matter what.

Boosted 01-07-2002 03:33 PM

to do low fives in a 225:

figure the following

exhaust cat back $600-$1100
race cat $1000-1100
FMIC $1000-1100
Abt Chip
Forge Valve
Lightweight Wheels (to improve accel times)
Abt Air filter (this is a controversial part, but I like it)

All this stuff with a good 5w30 sythetic oil and if your car is in really good tune and if the temperature is right whould put you into the low fives if you have a really good launch

Larrytt 01-07-2002 03:46 PM

I would, which you and most of the tuners already know.

Bluto 01-07-2002 03:52 PM

Seriously consier it,

RobbyTT 01-07-2002 03:53 PM

I'll settle for ceramic brakes!

economisTT 01-07-2002 03:53 PM

hand up

Boosted 01-07-2002 03:57 PM

heard Porsche might discontinue due to horrible noise

problem, also RUF wont use them because they feel that theres a longevity issue...I dont think are cars go fast enough to warrant the cost of a ceramic disk as opposed to a drilled/slotted cast rotor with a god 6 pot caliper..but the Porsche brakes look nice.

tsltm 01-07-2002 04:09 PM

yes.

TTschwing 01-07-2002 04:18 PM

If it would void my (supposed) warranty than Certainly!

RobbyTT 01-07-2002 04:19 PM

Look nice, yes!!! I saw them on a GT2 over the weekend...plain wrong they were :)

R AVOIR 01-07-2002 04:21 PM

Sorry... I have become a PurisTT from a longevity perspective.

cubstter 01-07-2002 04:29 PM

Of course!

Jason Chen 01-07-2002 04:31 PM

Upsolute said they would do a chip, and you can custom make a turbo to fit on the car.....

Alf Garnett 01-07-2002 04:50 PM

APR, ATP, PES...you guys seeing this?

If ya'll were smart youd be grabbing email addresses and emailing us to see how many of us have interest and money to match...
Can't believe ya'll are gonna let business like this slip away....Especially in this economy.
Get on it!!

Marcus

MichaelTT 01-07-2002 04:57 PM

Not me...just give me higher octane gas and I can go faster..:-)...

yea I have hit a wall so what you have in mind???

?lueshirt 01-07-2002 05:31 PM

??? If most tuners know this, where is it all?

Jim TT 01-07-2002 05:36 PM

They'd be WRONG but how do we get these people to understand the true AUDI person's way of seeing?

Larrytt 01-07-2002 05:42 PM

Each and everyone that I have talked to has told me no money in it . . .

and they also don't think TT owners are into modifying their cars.

joe@vwvortex 01-07-2002 06:04 PM

Only after my warranty expires ;) - of course!

Lightweight-USPowah 01-07-2002 06:34 PM

Nah, but I would also like harnesses ..

?lueshirt 01-07-2002 06:54 PM

Oh, my bad. I thought you were saying that the tuners know that a lot of people want to mod

Larrytt 01-07-2002 08:04 PM

Only from what I have been telling them.

nikhil 01-07-2002 08:15 PM

Hmmm....i think that would be a good first mod :-)

225TTQ 01-08-2002 02:29 AM

U means Upsolute can make a custom program fro bigger turbo? Where do u get that?
