whom here did a DD downpipe while they upgraded the clutch

the OFE South Bend clutch should be here nexd Tuesday and I am contemplating doing the downpipe while I got the tranny out, and, and, while I'm in there, might as well do the induction samco hose....thoughts and or warnings, tips, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera...

do it.... i did the front sway and DP at the same time since i had the subframe dropped.

raises hand :)

most found it necessary to put a poly dogbone bushing in place to prevent the larger diameter DP from hitting the undercarriage. But mine didn't... I ran stock motor mounts for quite awhile.. ymmv

I think it's a good idea to put in a new slave cylinder/throwout bearing assembly with a new clutch. An "ounce of prevention" etc. If the old one's left in place, and decides to leak, it'll hose down your new clutch with brake fluid. Spend $80-ish on the slave up front and improve the odds. Skimp on the $80: risk buying another new clutch and a "re-do" of all the associated labor

Do it, but keep in mind you may encounter a 2+ week wait while 42DD makes a kit up, unless you find a reseller who keeps one in stock.

the best price I've seen is from TTstuff

thanks for the schedule heads up!

Yes, indeed, I got the complete kit

with T.O. bearing and the slave....I wouldn't be surprised if the slave is leaking a bit already. I am starting to get shudder and slippage uphill especially long drive ways with high grades...and then the smell of clutch...and I don't feel the clutch holding my torque like it use to....

did you ever get any cel

with the DD dp? O2 sensor issues?

carsluTT 07-25-2008 07:33 AM

sounds like the best time to do the install on fhe DP to me

DynomiteTT 07-25-2008 10:46 AM

nope not with the O2 angle block. and i run the test pipe.

Horch it 07-25-2008 11:05 AM

ah, the angle block....

and did you have the poly dogbone bushing installed as well, ala Russ Scott? to prevent the larger diameter DP from hitting the undercarriage?
