Will audi extended warrenty cover a waterpump and timing belt and thermostat?

maaliish 07-08-2005 08:39 AM

I sure hope so. I haven't hear of anyone get denied.

Dealer says if timing belt snaps on its own then its not covered, but if it snaps due to a faulty waterpump or tensioner...you're good.

TTagz 07-08-2005 08:47 AM

why would it not be covered if it snapped on its own?

sounds like a faulty part to me.

maaliish 07-08-2005 08:50 AM

I agree...but we all know how "nice" our dealers are.

peteypab 07-08-2005 08:50 AM

how do i proove it is that, i mean i dont think its snapped yet either

maaliish 07-08-2005 08:53 AM

I think you'd know for sure if it snapped, as for proof, dealer will have to diagnose.

Timing belts don't normally snap on their own. All 60K related problems with timing belts come from same sources...water pump and tensioner. If T-belt breakes before its time one of the above causes is probably to blame.

If it had snapped, your car would not run. Why do you think there's a problem?

peteypab 07-08-2005 09:00 AM

no, it just started to overheat for no reason, then it finally went down

and didnt do it anymore that night... also every time i plug my sps3 into the port and pull it out as soon as i start my car, its temporarly overheated fpor about 3 seconds is that normal?

maaliish 07-08-2005 09:03 AM

how badly does it over heat? Does it go into red?

peteypab 07-08-2005 10:06 AM

no, just about the 75% line, umm not past it though like directly on it, seemed

as if foir a brief minute maybe my fans shut off during the scrape, and wouldnt cool engine down.. doesnt seem to major, just repetative with SPS3 and not sure why
