So what if the hottest engine in the next generation TT made...
... 350HP, was offered only with a 6-speed manual and displaced 2.5L. Would you be interested if it's sticker price was into the $50,000 range?
What if it didn't have six cylinders? Or four for that matter. |
John Primer would be all over it =^)
but only if it has 5 cylinders.
You know me, no DSG, I mean S-Tronic, then it's not for me. |
Sign me up! Would it be available at launch or shortly thereafter?
|
Five, eh? Reminds me of my old Audi 5000...
Too bad *that* particular car was a POS. ;)
But hell yeah! That's the HP that the TT has needed and another $10+K from the factory is cheaper than modding it to that level, plus warrantied. :) |
RS Performance and lightweight!! Where's the order guide!?! I'm in (for TT #4)
|
I've been waiting for the 5 cyl from the Jetta to make it's way into an Audi
A new 5 cyl fsi turbo would be nice.
Jerry D |
Have I mentioned lately how much I really love the mk2 TT?
|
Absolutely! Don't take me too close to $60K, though...
That opens my wallet up to some serious alternatives in the market.
|
HA!
you funny man. 8^0
|
Would be a very wise an excellent move IMHO
agree with Raw - don't make it closer to $60k as this opens up much more territory.. Man I can't wait to see what comes out next year :)
|
Perhaps turbo-I5 == beer goggles? ;)
|
Sign me up. I'll own an MKII TT, it's just a matter...
... of when the hot engines start showing up.
|
Re: Perhaps turbo-I5 == beer goggles? ;)
The best dicision Audi could make engine wise:
A TT 2.5 litre FSI K04 turbo 5 cylinder engine 350 hp. Hans. |
LMAO!!!! Sucker!
|
Exactly!
|
YES... PLEASE YES!!! Don't be pulling our chain! YOU BETTER BE SERIOUS!!!
|
not at that sticker.. I'd never be able to afford one :-\
|
i live in LA and would prefer DSG
|
absolutely
the first Audi in my family was a 5 cylinder so the concept is dear to my heart, and with the numbers you are suggesting this would be a phenomenal machine. Powerful, light, efficient and smooth...
although I was hoping we would see the option of a 7-speed s-tronic in the top end TT. Any chance of new technology enabling haldex to be 60% rear biased on the hottest model? |
The A6 would be history
|
? What would a 350/5 be called?
Is this change to existing line-up? (TTR 302hp FSI VR6) or addition? Hopefully a change!!! Hopefully this is 2 years away (1 year after U.S. launch!).
Hmmm I see a 2009, 350hp, 5 cylinder, 2.5 FSI, TTR, 6 speed, Quattro in Avus Silver with Red Interior in my future!!! ;) |
Re: ? What would a 350/5 be called?
Depents on the line-up below it.
If the 260 hp 2.0T FSI comes as a 2.0 Quattro 191 kW and the 302 hp VR6 FSI comes as a 3.2/3.6 ??? FSI Quattro than the 2.5T FSI will probably called TTS and if the 2.0T 191 kW or 3.2/3.6 FSI will be called TTS than it can be called TT RS. It is also possible that the 260 hp 2.0T will be called TT QS = "Quattro Sport" and the 302 hp TTS. Hans. |
Iceman... there will NOT be a RS version of the TT, but a TT-R instead.
|
Re: Iceman... there will NOT be a RS version of the TT, but a TTR instead.
TTR = TT Roadster.
Hans. |
Why would a 350hp be an S and a 302hp be the RS?
|
WRONG!... not according to Mr. 4#'s and he's in the know as you clearly are far from.
|
John... this is Iceman... he fishes around the net and claims he has a inside source...
...when in fact he has nothing but a bunch of assumptions. The UK guys and the RS6.com guys listen to him... but in reality he just recycles info and claims it as his own. Sad.
|
Iceman... go back to the U.K. forum and feed them your B.S. there.
|
I'm sure you are aware that the TTR moniker has...
... never been used by AAG to identify the roadster variant of the production TT.
Just a reminder since, as I mentioned, I am sure you are aware of this. |
The project was only green-lighted in late-May, it is still way too early for...
... a name to be locked-in. Any name. The car is still a ways off from entering production.
The guys in VM are knocking around quite a few ideas, some hyper-interesting, other as lame as any I've ever heard come from Ingolstadt. Or Santa'Agata, for that matter. |
Not available at launch or anything close to what a reasonble person...
... could consider "shortly thereafter."
We're talking more than 24 months from now as things are currently planned. |
Re: Iceman... go back to the U.K. forum and feed them your B.S. there.
... Hey, play nice!
|
Steve, the hottest stuff is more than a year off.
|
For the REALLY hot engine you'll have...
... a few summers more to wait.
If you live in the United States or Canada, that is. |
Sorry, no DQ 7-speed S-Tronics in the...
... powertrain plan, so transverse arrangements aren't in the works.
DQ= Transverse S-Tronic DL= Longitudinal S-Tronic |
sorry... I just remember the day...
When I was in the U.K TT and RS6.com forums and he was claiming to have a designer sketch of the Mk2 TT (about 9 months ago, give or take). I called him out on it! As all he did was flip out a A3 sportback designer sketch and photoshop it to a coupe. People actually believed him. To this day people at these forums actually believe he has a inside source!
|
Jim, roger that.. still very exciting info though
gives me plenty of time to save up :)
|
At least 2... hmmm 3? couldn't be 4?... summers that is.
|
thank you kind sir
I'm sometimes more intrigued by what you don't answer than what you do.
Rear wheel bias? |
You are a clever fellow...
... a very clever fellow.
