Default European Delivey from the States

Ok Guys and Gals. I'm looking for some guidance on the European Delivery of an Audi. I'm in the States and was thinking of taking advantage of the delivery of a new Audi plus a weeks vacation with my wife in Europe.
Questions-
1. Where do I begin? Where can I find info on this (ie pricing, what's offered, etc.)
2. What has been your experience for those of you who have taken advantage of European Delivery...was it worth it, was your car delivered when they said, how was the shipping handled back to the US?
3. Any other things I should be aware of? Any hidden fees, or "gottcha's" to look out for?
4. How much savings should I expect on the actual purchase price with European Delivery vs. standard traditional purchase/delivery for an Audi A4?

Thanks for your help in advance.

See above.

n/a

Hidden Fees are you have to pay the VAT (Value Added Tax) that Europeans pay on all items. You typically give the dealer a check for 19% of the cars value (7-10K) and they hold it until the car is delivered to them a cpl of months later. I have heard people doing this and the dealer not cashing the check, but YMMV.

5% off MSRP which you can easily get off from either using AMEX/ZAG, Costco or Supplier discounts and regular negotiation tactics.

Hi, Aloha!
1. Where do I begin? Where can I find info on this (ie pricing, what's offered, etc.)
I would recommend start by reading ED section in WIKI of this web site and then go to ED forum, read all Q&A and tips. The are more then few users there, who done ED recently - they will be happy to answer all your questions.

What has been your experience for those of you who have taken advantage of European Delivery...was it worth it, was your car delivered when they said, how was the shipping handled back to the US?
This is amazing experience that you and your wife will be remember for long time. After ED it's very hard to get back to lot. So you will be start planning new ED next weekend after you back from Europe

Any other things I should be aware of? Any hidden fees, or "gottcha's" to look out for?
Find a good salesperson with ED experience - you don't need to worry about any hidden fee. Information on VAT from previous poster is correct, accept dealer must deposit check now and they give you money back when you drop off your car in Europe and get back to US.

How much savings should I expect on the actual purchase price with European Delivery vs. standard traditional purchase/delivery for an Audi A4
5% off MSRP - and you will spend this money in Europe. It's not much about money - it's more about experience to get your car from the factory and drive YOUR car on autobahn at 130 mph legally and visit new places, enjoyed food and vine with your family or friends.

The euro delivery is great on cars when you can't have a deal (ie: when the S4 came out and they were all selling at MSRP)

I have traveled on business to Europe at least once a month for the past six years (over 100,000 frequent flier miles in 2009). Germany is my most frequent visit. In those six years I have never found anything for sale in any country in Europe that was a better cost value than I could find it in the U.S. That includes all the Duty Free shops. There is a local Audi dealership less than a mile from the facility I visit in Hannover, Germany. An S4 on their lot was about 10% more expensive that I paid for a comparably equipped model I purchased from a dealership in North Carolina that was of course produced in Germany. If you go for the EU delivery, do it for the experience, not for the cost savings. I would really enjoy a chance to drive my S4 on the Autobahn at 250kph. Unfortunately it would not be a good idea to do that to a car with 3 miles on the speedometer when you pick it up. Good luck no matter which way you decide to go.

I agree. I looked into this option for the S4 I ordered last July. I took my wife (then GF) to Germany in the summer of '07 and loved being there again. It's totally about the experience!

I would probably take it easy on the car for a little while, breaking it in on the drive from Ingolstadt to Munich and around town. Then get it going on the Autobahn
