The manual probably has a warning about the maximum size of beverage holder or a caution that you may spill it if you're driving with an open container....or maybe WARNING - Hot coffee is ... HOT.

Come on ! You know how it is in the US!! hehehehe

Actually, yes.

While the cupholder section (pg 92,93) actually does have a few legalease CYA warnings about hot liquids and only using containers with lids, it also shows the operation of the rear seat folding armrest cupholders.

And, for the record, all that icon means is that there is "more information in the owner's manual".

Unfortunately, those rediculous legal CYA warnings are there for a reason.

They are there because, at some point, some douchebag has tried to sue an automaker because....

They tried to cram a 64oz Big Gulp cup in a cupholder and spilled Coke all over, and into, the center console, frying electronics.

Put an open cup of hot coffee in the cup holder and burned themselves.

Tried to use the cupholder as an ashtry.

Tried to pry open the rear cup holder tray or snapped an arm of it off trying to push their large cup in there.

You really can't blame automakers for thinking we're stupid because letigiuos, idiotic douchebags prove it every day.

The irony is that the American "it's my right to have no common sense" crowd....

would never read the manual.

It doesn't say anything about using containers without leaky bottoms. Call my lawyer! I found my meal ticket!

I believe it's in reference to the thermo cup holder option. Checkout this link for details:
