I want to see that interior in person.

I *really* like the looks of it in the pics, think it could be even better in person.

Nice!

Potsie fantastic / Question: Premium stitch on door and door arm rest? or just arm rest?

Potsie your picture looks like the Premium stitch is on the center console of course. And on the door arm rest. But it should also be on the door -- is it? See page 10, 12, and 13 of the A8L brochure to see what I mean. The stitching on the door starts in front of the power mirror control knob. I saw this on the A8L that was at the Detroit Autoshow...

Also are both your front seats 16 way power or is the passenger seat missing the seat base, front edge botton shown on page 12 of the brochure?

KMU 06-27-2003 05:47 PM

Fantastic!

shwee 06-27-2003 06:02 PM

Absolutely gorgeous. Is it wrong to be envious?

Re: THE LONG AWAITED PICTURES (CAPS VERY NECESSARY)!!!!!!

I do like the color. I also am wondering if i should have gotten the 19" wheels, and bit the bullet this winter and bought a set of snows. Oh well hind sight and all that. Do enjoy the car. I love mine, and am anxious for the XM unit to be available. I think the PHATNOISE unit is interesting but not sure if it woul dintegrate with the A8, and also question whether it is worth the 1250 or so it costs.

Have fun with it, as I do mine.

Re: Potsie fantastic / Question: Premium stitch on door and door arm rest? or just arm rest?

The audi specialist said that actually the drivers seat is an 18 way and the passenger is a 16 way seat. I was complaining about the sticker saying 16 way, but can not complain if the drivers has more adjustments than stated.

Helper, whats your ride?

Audi S5 TC 06-27-2003 06:19 PM

Beautiful. Definitely nicer than the BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S Class and especially the new Jaguar XJ

I hope Audi does as superb a job with the new A6 as they did with the new A8. I'm really drooling over the anticipation of the new RS8 and W12 version of the new A8. If Audi does do as superb a job with the new A6 as they did with the new A8 (which I personally believe they will most definitely do), then I will also really be drooling over the anticipation of the new RS6.

Audi S5 TC 06-27-2003 06:21 PM

Also, I really love the northern blue metallic/saddle-black color combination

Sporty yet elegant. Classy yet aggressive. Modern yet classic. Need I say more? :)

Potsie 06-27-2003 07:42 PM

Options

-Convenience Pak
-Cold Weather Pak
-Front Seat massage
-Front and Rear seat Ventilation (yes it was part of the secial orders)
-Premium leather stich
-Motorola Phone integration (coming in July)

Potsie 06-27-2003 07:52 PM

There is no stich on the door per say only on the arm rest on the door and the center arm rests and

center console.

There is also premium stiching on both rear armrests.

skiracer 06-27-2003 08:06 PM

I am REALLY REALLY REALLY jealous (caps necessary)!!!!! Congrats, it's beautiful!!!!!!

LMGotts 06-27-2003 09:23 PM

Superb, really fantastic ride there!

GusTA 06-27-2003 09:24 PM

Potsie, congrats! Enjoy

Enjoy your new baby. Those of us who waited a few weeks to order now have a delivery date of mid-October quoted. In the meantime, we'll enjoy your pictures. Don't forget to post your driving experience!

gdog009 06-27-2003 11:18 PM

stunning...

absolutely gorgeous.

you must be ecstatic.

I get chills just looking at it. Fantastic color combo, btw!

happy quattro-ing.

Audi R4R 06-28-2003 12:24 AM

So jealous! =P

Congratulations on a GREAT BUY! That is the "sexiest" car out on the market PERIOD IMO. Please enjoy that car and keep us posted on the mods if you decide on any, or just long term upkeep and comments!

Btw,... what tires come with your car? Can I assume that you have the 19" rims? =P

Cheers & TIA!,

Steve

I'm never buying a Car & Driver again!!!!

What the hell are they thinking??? No taste or repect,... =(

target01 06-28-2003 01:29 AM

Massage seats...

Do they just vibrate or does it seem like there is pair of hands massaging you?

FrequentBuyer 06-28-2003 03:07 AM

helper & Potsie thanks guys :) Great forum -- been fun waiting for our cars together.

BackToBasics 06-28-2003 05:37 AM

I'm late to the party, so....

it's hard to add any superlatives to the long list on this thread, Pots, but what a beautiful car! If you're reading this before Monday instead of driving your new beauty, I'm disappointed ;).

Color combo and wheels look great. Interested in your take on how long it took yuou to a) get the hang of MMI and b) how long it took you to get MMI settings the way you want them to make it more streamlined.

04 A8L
Launch Edition
Northern Blue/Plat.
The usual options I guess-at least for the launch cars.

I think I was the first in NJ to get one. have had it for a little over 3 weeks now (June 4th delivery as I recall) Happy to report no problems.

The massage is the fact that the lumbar moves up and down while you're driving...

Not quite sure why it's an option because it uses an already integrated piece of machinery. Just seems like they add a button on the side of the seat and charge you $650 for it. It's a nice feature though, I'd value it at $300-$350.

Potsie 06-28-2003 03:44 PM

MMI is a snap after going through all of the menus once. It's very intuitive....

It only took me 5-6 min. to get the car the way I wanted it. I take a very straight forward approach to a system like this. Go through every menu and sub-menu even if I think I know what the button/option does, I go to it anyway, just to make sure I got it down. I'm still getting the hang of the radio, but it's nice to have all of the stations on the mini-MMI as well. Somebody in a previous post a couple of months ago said that the Navigation/GPS feature was not really detailed and needed to zoom-in. Well whatever Audi did, they fixed it 'cus the Nav will allow you to zoom in to a 50 yd. map which is "tight" and you can customize the level of detail as far as points of interest (gas stations, Hospitals, Banks, etc...) Very thought out.

I will post a "driving experience" tomorrow (it might be a long one.

LONG LEAD TIME

Greenie, my factory print-out states mid-October. I did ask for most options, but I don't see why that should matter.
