Saw this as I was looking at the 93U6 charging cable recall. My 2022 is also affected by 93U9.

DESCRIPTION A potentially critical self-discharge condition exists in certain high-voltage battery modules that, in some instances, may lead to thermal overload, possibly resulting in smoke or a fire. A high-voltage battery overheating increases the risk of a fire. Affected high-voltage batteries may experience a loss of range and/or performance as an early indication.


REMEDYREPAIR NOT YET AVAILABLE Audi is working on an interim measure to help provide support for vehicles in this recall until the remedy becomes available. More information will be provided at a later date once the details of the interim measure are defined.

I am getting the alert on the myAudi app for both etrons. 21 and 22.

My 2019 Edition One also has this recall. Just great.

My 2019 Prestige is also included.

so do we need to start parking outside? I don’t like a recall notice reporting the potential for smoke/fire without further guidance

I also really hope that they replace battery modules for any cars that have experienced damaged or degraded cells

Might start on fireo but no guidance, odd.

How about replace with latest 2024 batteries for more range, would be awesome.

Looks like they're all being recalled, my 2019 is as well. So, based on personal history and what NHTSA says, the motors fail every other year, the charger may melt the outlet and the car could catch fire in the garage, but otherwise it's great.

The real remedy is battery replacement, assuming the newer ones do not have this issue. Let us calculate the odds of that happening for the entire fleet. :)
What they will end up doing, I bet, is add some scheduled monitoring at the dealer (they're too inept to put together software that would upload battery health telemetry directly to the mothership, so it's probably going to be periodic visits to the dealer.

They'll define some sort of threshold for the at-risk battery packs and will replace as few of them as they can get away with.

I put some random Q8 VIN in the NHTSA search, looks like, at this time, the 2024 Q8s are not being recalled.

I have a 2024 that was built in March and that we bought in October and I checked too but it is not part of that recall. I believe they changed the battery chemistry starting with the 2024?

I put this information on the biggest German e-tron forum, we will see what we find out on the European side. Although for the next week and half Europe is "closed for business" due to the Christmas/New Year holidays.
