I just took delivery of a Q8 e-tron on the 21st of December and the 240 volt plug had been removed. My options were the offer of a 240 volt Audi wall mount box charger or a $500 Audi gift card. Since I already had a JuiceBox 48 installed in my garage, I opted for the $500 gift card. I shall use the gift card to offset maintenance on our Q7. Based on our driving habits, I consider this a pretty good deal. And......on a side note, we are really excited about the e-tron, although right now experiencing some tech overload.

Let's see how many parking garages will start to stop accepting e-tron, similar to some garages not allowing Chevy Bolts couple years ago...

This issue doesn't seem well known to the world outside of etron owners. And we all know how fast the media is to slander EVs right now. Most probably don't even know Audi has anything EV.

Only found one video of an etron catching on fire. Then the nasty video of an etron running a red at high speed and flipping through the air while ejecting the battery pack. That battery did not burst into flames and the driver walked away.

Battery fire video.

That is an old video and there were a LOT of mitigating circumstances.

This new recall is unusual in that there is ZERO information alongside it. We really have nothing to do but perseverate. Weird situation to be in.

I have a 2022 Chronos.
No notification in Online Car Care on the App. Running the VIN on the Audi website Recall / Service Campaign page only lists the Charging Cable Replacement issue.
No mention on the High Voltage battery. Is it possible that some 2022's are not affected by the High Voltage battery recall?

Agreed. It does sound similar or the same as the Taycan recall announced about the same time (12/23/23).
"Description of the Defect : Certain Taycan high-voltage batteries experience short circuits within the battery modules, which can lead to thermal events and in some cases fires."

That one affects 205 vehicles, so hopefully Audi will have a similar result. More detail in the NHTSA post.

@LIKEGADGETS Thanks for the info. Can you please give me the manufacturing year and month of your e-tron, thus we can narrow down which car is effected. As your car is outside of this range. Thanks.

Dimcorner21 12-26-2023 04:56 AM

I have a 22 Chronos and do not have a recall notice either as of today. How do you check build date?

anemeth 12-26-2023 05:01 AM

@Dimcorner21 Thanks for the info. I have an EU car, but I was told that the US cars have a sticker on the driver side B pillar with the manufacturing date. If you open the driver door you should see it on the doorpillar.
