Default Power Steering Hose

I'm in need of the hose that connects Power Steering pump to accumulator, it's the one with the foam insulator on it.
any help?

Some places will rebuild them. You can check in your area for companies that fabricate/rebuild hydraulic hoses. This will be the least expensive route to take. Many have done this, but I haven't heard of any +/- with regards to longevity. The OE ones are lasting roughly 15 years.

If you want to go OE. It is $$$(400-500), but you should be able to count on the quality. The cheapest OE prices are found at genuinevwaudiparts.com. I don't know the part number off the top of my head(which really helps on their site), but perhaps someone will chime in...

I don't believe the genuine Audi part argument has any validity in this case. New materials and a company that deals daily with high pressure hydraulic hose repair can provide a superior product. House of Hose in Spokane, WA is one of those who have done many of these "J" hose repairs. They will retain the restrictor in the hose and the insulation that dampens noise from pump pulses along with added connectors to insure the ends can be attached at the correct angle with no stress on the hose. If you look at the original you will see the ends are attached for the correct angle to attach to the fitting at each end. If a local shop does this repair they must insure that the same angle is retained or there will be a twisting stress on the hose, reducing its life.

HOH or any local shop won't do clean-up work. If the fat insulation is soaked from long term leaking, you need to clean it up yourself or have a steam cleaner do it. And, clean up the vehicle where the leak has ocurred. This fluid will soften suspension bushings and hoses where it is allowed to remain for long periods.

This "J" hose goes to the brake pressure accumulator and is a brake pressure hose not a power steering hose. It gets pressure from the hydraulic pump that supplies both systems that are otherwise independent of each other.

You should get 4 new o rings to replace the seals at the hose banjo ends. Part # N 904 054 01

The only down-side to the HOH repair is you have to have a pair of SAE inch size wrenches in the tool box for the swivel fittings they install. : - )

I have a rebuilt hose that was done by HOH. I would want your hose for a core. Send me an email if interested.

Default Replacing my HP Hydraulic Line

What's the preferred Replacement Hose material compatible with Pentosin
CHF 11s? and what are the thoughts about eliminating the restrictor? Has anyone experimented with other types of Metric Hydraulic fittings other than the OEM Banjo ?
My local Hydraulic shop would cut the Steel line beyond the Banjo just at the original Hydraulic hose Crimp fitting, then Swage on an 8mm Compression fitting/Hose adapter.
But what if the Steel line is marginally corroded?
Thanks!

You are asking a lot of questions for someone who is not doing the work. A better question(s) might be "Do these guys know what they are doing?" or "Can they convince you they can do the job correctly?". If so, good, if not, move on.

The restrictor is critical; the pump pulses will resonate the system unmercifully. Retain the foam insulator on the hose also. If they crimp new hose on solidly, the orientation of the ends needs to remain exactly the same or you will introduce twisting stress on the hose. The routing of the hose to avoid interference with other parts was carefully worked out with the banjo ends, so you need to consider how the hose position would change if you change connectors. I have never heard of anyone needing to change the banjo ends.

Tom,
Thanks for the input. I had the same thoughts after raising the questions to this Hydraulic repair facility... Better to stick with proven and familiar facility....I will contact HoH today.
Much appreciated~
