I took it in today and there just happens to be a different ASE tech doing smog checks...who happens to be the owner also (Previous 3 smogs were all done by a different tech).

So he scratches his head because i know he hasn't seen this engine before. Gather's all the other tech's around and tells me that the Wastegate nipple is missing a hose. I tell him BULL****. i have seen dozens of pics online and also other AANs in person and he's gonna tell me that the nipple is supposed to connect somewhere. So he spends about 20 minutes on the pass side of the engine bay looking for the other end of where the hose "should" connnect to. In the meantime i log on the internet with my laptop and show him half a dozen photos of AAN engine bays from Shokan.com. NO hose attached. I'm 150% positive. Basically he's saying he wont pass me on the visual....whereas the other tech that looked at it 3x before passed me on the visual, but i still failed w/ High HCs at idle. This guy didn't even run my RPM test he told me "oh yeah, i didn't do the test but it definitely smells like high HC"

Eventually he comes back and tells me that he wont fail OR pass my car because he doesn't have the right technical info on my car....and that they only have info for the 2.7TT.....

OMG, you gotta be kidding me, i have spent the last few weeks replacing every sensor, temp sender, valve...etc etc getting my idle tuned and this cluck wants to tell me he can't test me because he has no info on the AAN. I told him to call Mirmar Audi (Not even 1 mile away) and he says it wont help because the resource/documentation has to be owned by the smog center, in otherwords they can't take someone's word for it. WEEEEEEEAK.

On another note there is some new EVAP test that was implemented on 12/01/07 about some low pressure fuel evap testing that must be done on all cars 1976 to 1995.

Sorry just need to vent. Anyone in San Diego / LA / Orange County area know of a smog station that will take on my car?
