Alternate (neater) version of Fog light wiring mod...
First, a big thank-you to Richard Solomon for his writeup of the fog light wiring mod (https://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec43.shtml).
I did the mod this weekend, but in a slightly different (I think, neater) way...
I found that there is no connector inside the fuse box on the "load" (right hand) side of the fuse at position 27 - even though there IS a connector at the "live" side and a fuse in that position! So I replaced the fuse with a 15A and just used a radioshack fuse tap (shortened & soldered) to run a wire from the load side of the fuse. Then on the other end of the wire I just soldered a small 3/16 spade connector and inserted it into the "load" side of 36 without any fuse in place (I blocked off the "live" side of 36 using an old fuse cut in half). All you see is one short wire and the fuse in pos 26 is now used for the fogs. Much nicer looking IMHO...
If you don't have the small spade, you can take a spare fuse, cut it in half, use half to block the live side of 36 and break apart the other half to use as the spade (you obviously need to be able to solder to do this). Make sure you heat-shrink everything to insulate any exposed bare metal!
This was so quick and easy, I wish I'd done it months ago.
Better still would be to connect the red wire to the ignition-switched feed (yellow stickered nut just to left of your red wire, 2nd photo) to avoid the possibility of the fogs being left on when you leave the car.
Maybe I'll re-do it, to simplify the process for others.
