Default Anyone installed V1 in their C7 A6 yet?

Just wondering if anyone installed radar detector on their cars yet. I took the V1 off my traded-in S5 and now looking for some DIY tips for putting this in the A6.

Thanks for the help!

I put mine in, but its not hard wired into the car. I have found that the cig lighter cord is long enough to run from the windshield to the outlet and stays just enough out of the way on the right side of the roll out screen that it doesn't interfere. Hope this helps a little.

I have my 9500ix in, and have the hard wiring kit, but have not run it yet. You go along the top of the windshield, down the driver's pillar (hard part) to the fusebox on the driver's end of the dash. Haven't picked a fuse yet, but obviously you'll want one thats switched with the ignition.

I have been trying to find a decent mount, similiar to what I had in my '08Corvette, but evidently nobody thinks you should install RDs in Audi's because I haven't found a thing. Standard Escort suction cups seem to be holding to my eyebrow tint okay but I'd prefer a hard mount if I can find one.

My dealer said they would install the Invisicord with the V1 for me. So as soon as I get it I will take it there. They said it goes into the mirror like the Vette.

I just installed mine and got some tips from the A7 forum that showed some pictures. I removed the fuse box cover on driver's door side and then carefully removed the pillar cover. Pop the ABS plate with a small screwdriver and work up and down to release the three clips from top to bottom. It inserts into a plastic cover near the fuse box at the bottom. I used an "add a fuse (10amp, ATO)and chose the 7.5 amp fuse on the "A" (closest to drivers seat) bank of fuses. About slot 9 or 10 down. There's plenty of room to place the V1 wiring and plug in receptacle, etc. I ran the wire behind the fuses and up into the pillar, behind the airbag. It's pretty easy to bury the wire along the top windshield molding with a small screwdriver, leaving a tail to plug in on the driver's side of the mirror. A couple of tips: the only ground I could find that worked was bare bolt on the firewall high and left of the fusebox. It's a 13mm nut with a really small working area so grab a beer. Also if any of the clips from the pillar cover come off and stay in the slots, pinch them closed and pull them out to reinsert into the cover brackets instead of trying to line them up when putting it back on. Test the whole thing before you start putting it back together. In typical fashion, I could do it next time in about a half hour instead of the three hours the first time but I only bled a little and didn't break anything. Good luck and stay patient.

Are you still using suction cup to mount the unit or did you find a fixed mount that works in the Audi?

That would be much cleaner, but I didn't see anywhere to tie into with the mirror. Could you maybe get some instructions or pics from your dealer on where they're placing the probes?

As an alternate plan that doesn't involve running the wire near an air bag, you can easily get power from the overhead panel:

Mine looks like the pic that uberwgn posted. He's right about tapping in the upper panel, I just used the setup that I pulled from my old A6. I ordered new suction cups from V1 for $1. I saw an ad in autoweek with a mount that attaches to the rearview mirror, I don't know if it would work for a V1. I also like it a little higher and don't think I'd like to block out more of the windshield view that seems a little confined already.

Outstanding! I had searched all over the older forums trying to find something on RDs and didn't come up with hardly anything. This is good!
