Default JB4 Tune for Q5

What's up guys, I'm new to Audi after coming from a BMW M440 which was totaled by one of the many bonehead drivers we have out here in my city. Decided I'm probably better off in an SUV, and went with a Q5 45 this time around.

I had installed a tune on the M440 called JB4 from BMS. Currently in the process of swapping it out for a version that'll work with the 45 engine, which should be good for another 50hp/70ft-lbs. I can see a few threads on these forums of owners installing it on other Audis, but didn't notice a Q5 thread on it.

Was wondering if anyone here has given it a try? The install isn't very challenging, but my main question was how the tires were holding up on an AWD after the torque increase of the tune. My M440 shredded the rear tires by 7500 miles, which I'm sure is at least partially the result of the hard launches I've done in it, but also from the additional torque from the tune. With an AWD and all-seasons I don't expect it to be as bad, but then again the vehicle is a bit heavier.

I know this is going to bring up a bunch of warranty void questions from users, and the short answer to that is: probably not but there's always some possibility of anything happening.

I have the JB4 in my Q5 55e, but I also had it in my Macan before this. It’s a nice boost, easier to install
than in a BMW imo. Only thing is tapping the AFR wire for modifications, but I bought my own harness adapter to not tap my AFR wire at all.

On a stock macan 2.0 it was noticable but would never mess the tires up lol I mean 250-260 to 300 wasn’t exactly pushing what the macan could handle. Same with the Q5, even with. JB4 you won’t be pushing past SQ5 territory with basically the same tires etc

My 21 SQ5 has a JB4 unit. Haven't noticed any tire shredding. The race car though...

That thing under your right foot is not an on/off switch. It can be modulated.when required.

I have had JB4 for a couple weeks at this point. Even trying to launch i can't see how it would truly affect the tires. I full throttle launched and i have yet to break traction.

I'm new to this forum, but pleased to know there isn't a complete shortage of simpletons ready to drop some solid advice. There were always plenty on the BMW forum

Yeah, even in the lighter A4 allroad no chance of tire burn in my experience while running the JB4. It’s a nice solution for me.

The only simpletons are those who think mashing the throttle is the only way to accelerate. Those with even minimal driving ability can learn modulate the throttle in response to tire slippage.

Doesn't the SQ5/Q5 have traction control to stop slippage - unless you turn it off.
