C43 AMG Tested

The new C43 AMG reviews are out. It now uses a hand built engine just like proper AMGs. It's really getting expensive; it's almost in the price bracket of the previous C63S.

4 cyl, no thanks. And you're right, so expensive (some higher optioned models are over $100k in Canada...nuts).

In the review they mention inflation as and supply chain issues as the reason for the cost increase but you can still get a nicely optioned M3 or RS5 for under C$110,000. Both of those seem like better value than the C43.

Mercedes will probably move back to hybrid V8s for the 2026 model year as that's when the new EU regulations come out that restrict HP per liter. If a car manufacturer wants to give a car more power, they'll have to give it a bigger engine or a hybrid system.

I still can't tolerate MB's soft, bar of soap styling ethos. It's no better than that of BMW, just on the opposite side of the spectrum.

That styling is really popular in China. That's why EQ cars all have that styling.

I thought BMW's deformed origami/Transformers styling was also driven by the Chinese market. Besides being ugly, they have little in common.

I was expecting that with the huge motor in the rear and the batteries, I wasn't expecting that turbo lag though.
