B&O 3D sound speaker upgrade
Hi there,
I have a C8 RS6 with B&O 3D sound (the ones with the rising tweeters), I was wondering if anyone has upgraded the front speakers.
If you did, what speakers did you get to match the standard player/amps/dsp.

Waste of money upgrading the speakers unless you upgrade the whole system. The benefit to replacing the B&O DSP/amplifier is massive. Replacing the speakers while keeping the B&O DSP/amp is not going to be much improvement.

so... lol... i upgraded the primary speakers in the doors... tried 10 different kind of both cheap and expensive speakers. matched the ohm's and speaker power as well. put everything back together and the car went into security lock down mode. total brick. was about to have it towed to the dealership when i reverted everything and in about three hours, it went back to normal and released the full car security lockdown mode it went into.
moral of the story is... make sure whoever works on your car knows what they're doing and is able to code whatever they have to so your car doesn't go into that security lockdown/brick mode.

Interesting. I have heard of some cars doing that. Basically, the stereo has some form of load sensing for the amplifier, and changing the speakers alters the load and the amp goes into a protect mode. I have heard about this on some American car brands, but not heard about it on German cars. In some of those cars, you have to add a device that applies a dummy load to the factory amp so the car thinks the factory speakers are still in.
I have never attempted to just replace speakers because it's such a pointless exercise. Upgrade the whole stereo system with a NAV-TV Zen V preamp, the DSP and amps of your choice, and new speakers. It's the only way that a serious improvement can be achieved.
Just not worth the time or money to do anything less.
