Customizations on 2025/2026 Q5 with SFD 2 Security
On my 2019 Q5 PP, I did a few customizations using the Carista OBD dongle that worked great. On my 2026 Q5 PP, the latest Carista dongle cannot get passed the new SFD 2 security. Has anyone used any kind of OBD scanner that will get passed this SFD 2 security.

I don’t think there is one yet. The major ones are working on it, but SFD2 requires participation from VW in issuing the tokens, and that’s the part that seems to be stuck. Some have SFD support, but that’s not sufficient to provide the access needed in the SFD2-protected vehicles.

Had a call with Ross-Tech recently and they indicated they are getting close to having some form of licensing deal worked out with VAG group to allow us to use the VCDS software to customize certain elements. According to the person I spoke with there would be a small subscription fee involved, and he felt we were within several months of having this option available. Let's hope it is that soon.
