Tire size help for 17s with A/T
Just bought a B9.5 A4 Allroad and I want to put on 1552 Evolution MX 17x8 wheels with Yokohama Geolanders AT but need help on tire size with stock suspension.
1552 Evolution MX
What is the recommended tire size for this setup?
Also, if anyone knows someone at 1552, would love that info. Their email customer service can be improved.
Yes, I did STFA

There's lots of different "Geolander AT" variants; you'll have to be more specific

Doesn't appear any of them come in 245/50 R17.

Thanks!
LT... is light truck metric; P... is passenger car metric; ... (no leading letter) is euro metric; Audi cars come with euro metric tires, typically load range XL now.
The dual load index means the tire is rated for single wheel (first index) and dually (second index) configs.
225/65R17 is the Q5 17" tire size, and a +2" over stock. Yeah, let's see how long the drivetrain components last with that (a larger diameter means less force and more speed to the ground for a given axle input, so will take more torque from the powertrain for the same push off the surface).
I have no idea what the load range icon/marking on the tire pic.

The tire listed in the article doesn't seem to exist anymore, and this seems to be what searching keeps turning up. Load range D, so an 8-ply tire.
37 lbs per tire. That'll do a number on the drivetrain too.
If we go with a Yokohama Geolander AT G015, we see it's only a Euro metric tire, SL load range, 102 load index. So a more normal 4-ply car tire construction, thus only 30 lbs per tire. Supported rim width is 6.0-8.0", so the prospect wheel is viable. But the more typical overall diameter 17" for that application would be more around the 27 lbs mark. But yeah, not an LT tire is going to help. But if I wanted the car to last, I'd stick to +1".
I have no idea if the drop to 225 was because of clearance issues with the further outward wheel offset.
225/55 or 245/50 would be stock. 225/60 or 245/55 would be +1". But 245/55 R17 appears to not be a thing. 225/60 R17 has the Geolandar A/T4, in 99H SL. At 28 lbs.
