UK: Sounds like a lorry
I’ve just bought a 2007 a4 sline 1.9tdi
when start car sounds like the is a massive induction kit on it and is really loud I’ve looked at intercooler pipes no visible damage to any of them when I put it under load has a lot of black smoke which I think is I burnt diesel any ideas what this could be I will try and upload a video later of the noise and sound like a injector is rattling when under load aswell

Sounds like the previous owner tuned it like that, “burnin’ coal!” As my boys call it… when a big diesel truck is spewing thick black smoke.
Maybe somebody deleted the EGR or/and DPF??

After further investigation found out that one of the 8 flat hydrolic lifter had failed and worn threw and preventing the valve from opening and closeting properly looks like a top end rebuild
