Audi A8 D3 2006 3.7 engiine camshaft chains and tensioner change
Hi, I am trying to find a video or more information about my Audi A8 D3 2006 3.7 engiine camshaft chains and tensioners change. Has anyone done this without taking out the engine? The passenger side seems to have limited space to work on, on that side the tensioner and canshaft gears are close to the dashboard or end of engine compartment. Any ideas, tips, videos or suggestions?.

I keep getting conflicting information about this job. First the parts sellers keep responding that the chains and chain tensioners (adjusters) are not the same in the 4.2 and the 3.7 models. Then some mechanics say that the engine has to come out while some people say the chains and chain tensioners are changed from above removine only one camshaft per side. I would really love to see a video of the passenger side chain tenioner change, which might allow me and a friend who is mechanis do that safely without any hicups.
My model has a toothed timing belt in the front, it is not the complicated version with the timing chain in the back.

3.7 and 4.2 timing belt engines are exactly the same procedure as they’re essentially the same engine.
If you’re worried about part numbers, see what’s written on your existing ones and order the same.
