Looking to Modify an S5/RS 5, crazy style.
We recently just got our hands on a 2009 B8 Audi S5 6-speed. Totally in love with the looks and the sound of that incredible V8. My plans with this car is to go absolutely nuts with modifications. The initial goal was to have an all-wheel drive,6-speed, V8 car that was not only nice to look at and unique, but also fun to drive, which the S5 and RS 5 seemed to check every box with flying colors. I would like to get advice from seasoned owners such as yourselves before I dive headfirst into the money pit. (I understand that I may be entering 6 figure ranges)
The goal is to either Rebuild the current S5 engine + trans + SR66 Widebody (and the accessory mods that come with both; intake, suspension, etc.)
BUT
We have absolutely fallen in love with the sound of the B8 RS 5 V8. We were having thoughts about making what should have been the perfect RS 5, (Widebody, 6-speed, and tuned/modded V8 (don’t worry, +exhaust)). I wanted to know if this would even be possible to manual swap the RS 5 with a donor trans from a S5. I read somewhere that enthusiasts speculate that the bellhousing matches, but I wanted to get an internal set of opinions.
The plan is to self-perform the suspension, bodywork (mostly), and the exhaust and I wanted to get advice on to run now, or if there is a shop remotely close to Charlotte, North Carolina, that would even consider taking on majority of the engine/trans work for this project. Please let me know of advice, because the more information that I can gather before making what will likely be the worst financial decision of our lives, the better.
Please let me know. Feel free to PM me!
Thanks a ton!
Bryson
