Default Front end shaking going downhill with cruise control onwht cruie engaged

My 2015 Audi A6 2.0T quattro with 132,500 miles has started to shake - feels like it is in the front end - when I go down a steep hill at highway speed with the cruise engaged. The shaking stops as soon as I turn the cruise off and the engine is no longer trying to hold the vehicle speed down. Thoughts of things to check? My tires are new (Bridgestone Turanza Prestige (impressive quiet ride thus far...). I asked my indy shop to take a look at front end components and suspension to see if anything looked worn at the last oil change, they reported everything looked fine. Car brakes normally, starting to notice a very slight pulse but still minor. Thoughts and suggestions welcome - thanks!

Depending on the steepness of the hill the cruise control will also apply the brakes to slow the car to the selected speed. Turning off the cruise control will stop that happening. Would suggest to me that there is an issue with the brakes. Maybe warped discs?

Thanks, I'll ask my indy shop to check out the brakes, it was something I hadn't considered. Would it make sense that the brakes seem to function smoothly with normal braking (slowing or stopping the car) but produce the cruise on, steep hill combination shaking?

Try replicating it manually. The amount of brake pressure might need to be "just right" to match what the ccontrol does.

OR. Since the cruise control must be activating the brakes using some mechanism (the ABS anti-skid braking module?) it is possible that the problem is hiding in the anti-skid or stability control systems.

That's something the ordinary mechanic may not be able to check. Since an ABS system costs more than what a 1970 Beetle sold for...maybe TAKE the mechanic for a test ride and make sure you can tell them "THERE. THAT'S IT."

would think that when CC is activating the brakes it is the equivalent of very light pressure and most likely to show up imperfections in the discs or pads which are not obvious when firmer pressure is applied

Same way that the normal AWD operation isn't really shifting power, it is just braking one wheel to "depower" it. And if I pull a hard u-turn from a standing stop (to take advantage of a break in oncoming traffic) Nanny ESC says "oh my, we might turn over" and cuts back the throttle as well. Which puts me in more danger from that oncoming traffic. I'm sure that's also invisibly doing wheel braking, so I put a tactile amplifier (aka rubber bumper) on top of the ESC switch so I don't need to take my eyes off the road.

Either way...the invisible helpers could at least put on a robe so you KNEW when they were doing something!
