Default Software Update

Hi I have a B10 2025 and had a loaner 2026 q5, the software is different, but the physical screens are the same, does anyone know if we can get the update? I've heard mixed answers and the service person said he wasn't sure. But it seems like we should be able to and its insane if we aren't!

MY2026 has a completely different software that will NOT be coming to the MY2025 models. The most obvious physical tell of this is the steering wheel. The cars with the new software also have scroll wheels on the steering wheel, while the cars with the old software will have touch sliders.

No I get that but for most features like the ability to do carpool karoke, thats not a feature that requires buttons, neither is the option to have a map fully display in the virtual cockpit, these features I am wondering about.

There's more to what was changed for the MY26 PPC vehicles than a little this, a little that. The MY25 PPC is a done deal; what you have is what it'll be, is fully how I expect it to play out over the years.
It appears having the nav map in the VC on PPC is a much more complicated matrix than simply MY25 vs MY26 software?

VW Screwed all of us 25'ers and, I bet the software will NEVER run correctly.

That’s what they claim, but I will not be convinced until they prove it with the specs that are allegedly needed and how they are different from the hardware on the ‘25. I remember them saying the same thing about wireless CarPlay on the 2020 A4 (which was the first one to launch with the MIB3 MMI) and turned out to be a simple parameter change with OBDEleven. They said the same thing about the version upgrade for the MMI, and maintained their lie until the Sirius XM reboot issue caused them to offer the ‘21 software as a fix. So no, I don’t believe anything they claim unless they present proof.

This is why I think it is software, plus a scroll button vs slider isn't that different like I get them not giving us all new steering wheels but the software cmon.

Don't get me wrong I definitely think Audi is screwing over MY25 owners by not giving them the new SW, but I'm just repeating what has been claimed by Audi. I hope they do eventually update all older owners to get everything not HW-related at some point.

Here in Europe, even new MY 2025 models (A5, A6, etc.) are heavily discounted, starting at least 15% off the list price, up to 30% for some used models with very few kilometers.
In short, dealers are doing everything they can to get rid of the MY 2025 models.
This tells me only one thing: forget about updating the MY 2025 models to 2026 software/hardware, otherwise there would be no reason to do such a thing; it would be enough to update the cars and keep prices level.

At least when I bought my A5 in 2025, I was promised that this was a new type of car and that one of its advantages was that the software would update itself... But what I don't like is that it doesn't update itself — instead, you have to drive to their service center to update it...
