Spoiled by 800km
Unbeknownst to me at the time of purchase, I never did 800km or more on a single tank of fuel prior to owning an A8. Fuel can be $12/L for all I care, but 'range' wasn't a thing I ever bothered to think about. Now, it is a big deal. One of the things I hate about my Tucson and hated about my Ghost was I can only do ~500km/tank. So, with the D5 at a little over half a tank, that is a FULL tank of fuel on other cars. The V6 (or is it an I6) S class, can do the same. The old 6 cylinder 7 series can do the same. A Range Rover can get ~760km/tank (I6).
I never knew what I was missing until this ability to go long and far before needing to fill up. For most people they won't care their cars can only go 500km/tank, but in my case going to and from the gas station is almost 60km... (yes, I live far from civilization).
Anyway, fun fact, it's 440-480km/tank in a Ghost. 12 cylinders....for what reason? To get to a gas station
? This is why I don't get high powered motors. Sure more torque or whatever, but more time spent at a fuel station when the vast majority of the time a car is idling or just cruising...
I am not surprised that Audi have just announced the same engine in the new A6 Allroad - it's a terrific engine.😄
sick.
