2025 SQ7 18 months report…
I have owned my 2025 SQ7 for 18 months now.
I purchased it to tow our 2021 Airstream Globetrotter 25 as I was simply done driving pickup trucks after something approaching 250,000 miles in 15 years.
With a background in European auto maintenance and repair, I prepared myself for anything and everything.
I have made no modifications to my Audi as I knew I’d be subjecting it to moderately severe duty towing. As I am retired, I take it to the dealer for service and that includes 5000 miles oil services. So far the only warranty issue was a very squeaky center console arm rest that Audi changed for a non squeaky one. I just had the MMI firmware updated and this has resolved some odd behavior too.
This car is about as perfect as any vehicle I have ever owned! The power is amazing! Whether towing a 6500 pound trailer or just driving around, it is incredible. I can’t believe the mid range torque…
My SQ7 is a bit of a stripped down version as it doesn’t have the 48v system along with the sport differential or active sway bars but I don’t really miss them.
As for pulling the Airstream, it is hands down the best tow vehicle I’ve ever owned including two diesel 2500’s. It will easily out accelerate, out brake and out handle any truck I have ever driven. It has exceeded my wildest wishes on the towing level.
This SQ7 is happy when in Dynamic mode and it is perfectly happy driving in Auto mode. It is a vehicle of many faces with a strong Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hyde feeling.
My wife’s RS6 is a very different animal as is our 1972 Fiat 500L. That car has a two cylinder, 18 hp engine and it is one of the most enjoyable cars I know!
With all of the doom and gloom posts I see, I simply wanted to share an incredibly positive experience…
