Default Has anyone ever changed a D5 wheel by the roadside ?

I caught a roadside rock on a narrow lane which punctured the sidewall, so the sealant goo was not an option but I had the spacesaver wheel as an option.
I decided to leave the car, pay for a taxi from miles away and the following day had the car recovered to a tyre fitter.

My question: Would you change a 2 tonne A8''s 20 inch wheel in the dark using the standard jack ?

I did this for years twice a year. I do my own winter tire swaps, or did, anyway. That said did I do it in the dark? Obviously not, but I wouldn't hesitate. I am a DIYer sort of person though and yes I used the factory jack. I do carry (in the car) and use a torque wrench though when changing rims.

I did the same on our other car before and after last winter - on our drive and with wheel chocks - but didn't want to risk things with a 2 tonne car in the dark an hour from home.

I'll maybe do a trial run during the summer if you have found the Jack setup ok.

I keep a good sized flashlight in the trunk, as you never know when you might need to change a tire.
