Default does swapping the steering wheel require coding??

I have a '22 A4 that has recently began displaying "Traffic Jam Assist Unavailable" message in the VC. Searching this problem lead me to this thread which indicates the problem may be with a sensor in the steering wheel;

Unfortunately I'm out of warranty, however I'd like to try swapping the steering wheel to see if that will resolve this issue. Can I swap the wheel with another A4 without any coding?

If you're swapping a like for like wheel, I would expect you shouldn't need to do anything beyond the physical swap.
Do you have an actual error code to point to a particular issue? It might be the J1158 unit that sits in the airbag cavity or the capacitive "web" in the wheel. Maybe an issue with the wiring harness under the airbag.

I’ve swapped my B9.5 A4 wheel a couple of times. Once for the S half perforated one, and again for the RS fully perforated one.

It’ll throw a few codes and turn on the MIL, but once cleared with VCDS or OBD11, it’s fine.

@SMac770, the issue is a random message "traffic jam assist unavailable...", the fault code is u112300 in the ACC module, searching I discovered a couple of people here got this issue resolved by replacing the steering wheel. So it seems to point to a flakey capacitive web in the wheel. I get the message a few times a day for a few seconds each time, even though I have disable TJA in the MMI.

Hi Jerry,

Yes I do have ACC as well as active lane keep assist with the module in the bottom of the steering wheel.

Neither were affected by the change of wheel and subsequent code clearing.
