A6 C5 Front brakes knocking when driving through bumps
I have 320mm single piston brakes on my car. The issue is when I drive over some bumps, both of my front brakes makes a metal on metal like knocking sound. If I do the same but I press the brake pedal slightly then its completly quiet. Both of my front brakes are new. Everything. Tried multiple brake pads, slide pins, tension springs. And its still doing that knocking sound no matter what I do.
Can somebody help me or at least give an idea what could couse this issue?
If the issue is pad rattle then you could consider a product like CRC Disc Brake Quiet. I have used it on the back of both inboard and outboard pads for particularly difficult brake rattles where the outboard pad rattles between rotor and caliper and or the inboard pad rattles between rotor and piston. Also some pads come with clip-on metal back plates that can cause rattles so a dab of the same product can help in that location too.
