APR Stage III, HOWS THE LOWEND!
My current plan is to get an A4 1.8T, and to go APR Stage III+ on it. One of the things that has REALLY persuaded me to go this route (I know the 3+ isnt quite avail yet) is the dyno graph that APR provides for the kit, they show that at 2500 and 3000 rpm, the torque is INCREDIBLE. That is my main reason for wanting this kit, the torque. I have a friend with a modified Mustang GT, and he puts down about 280 tq, if I could get anywhere near that (the 3+ tells me I can and more) I'd love to, the torque in his car just gives me the chills.
But I heard someone say the A4 Stage III doesnt have as much usable torque as the S4. Granted the S4 is a blown 6 so its going to have a better power band than a modded 4, but I'd expect the modded A4 to be GREAT as far as torque goes.
These things are important to me, I live very close to work, so I don't rev my motor above 3K very often on my commute, as I try to be nice to it while it warms up. How does the Stage III feel on the "warm up" or just plain down low? as I do a bit of around town driving I LOVE lowend torque.
I guess I'm just looking for reassurance that I'm doing the right thing. I suppose I could just ride my bike for 6 months or so and save up to buy an S4, but that would stretch me kinda thin and I've got other goals. I'd like to have the A4 as the comfy, reliable (yes, even with stage III the A4 is more reliable than my corrado), powerful yet usable daily driver, then get something like a 944 Turbo or any other car equally impractical, inexpensive, yet disgustingly fun for a track/toy car to tool around with.
How does the Stage III feel down low? Am I going to be dissapointed?
I put a supercharger on my Corrado and was not happy with the lowend, I wasnt expecting it to get improved I guess, but it would have been nice.
Let me know your impressions of it.
I can't WAIT to be part of the audi fold.
As always, try before you buy.
Find Rob Andrews, he's one of the more knowledgable guys here and he has a PES supercharged 2.8, he'll be able to explain it better than I.

PES website
