Radar detector in Cig Lighter? or where?

I just got my Audi A4 a few weeks ago.
The Lighter socket on this car seems to be powered all the time, unlike my previous car.

Are you guys with Radar detectors just leaving them turned on all the time, in the cigarette lighter socket? Do you bother to turn off the detector when you are stopped?

Hard Wired somewhere that powers off?

This just seems kind of annoying.

BTW, it doesn's have to be a V1, I've done it with other brands.

Picked up my A4 last Saturday. Hard-wired my detector Saturday night.

Then again I've been doing it on my last 3 cars. I hate cords stretched across the dash.

I used Fuse #31 - a 15 Amp. I just wrap the striped wire around the pos. side of the fuse and plug it back in. Ground is on a bolt right above the fuses.

Detector is a Whistler. I'll upgrade one of these days.
