How can you tell if you BPV is loosing boost?

How can you tell if you BPV is loosing boost?

Is there a sound, I know when the valve on my dad's TT went out it sounded like a BOV, but mine does not.

Or should you just replace it because it 'probably' is.

Also, what is everyone's favorite, I will probably go with that.
