Windshield Washer Jets

Does anyone know how to heat the windshield washer jets. Are they supposed to heat automatically, or do I need to activate front or rear windshield defrost to heat the washer jets? This morning in the northern S.F. Bay Area, where I live, it was 28* and my jets were frozen. Can anyone shed some light?<p>TIA...<br>Joe Silva<br>'97 A4 1.8

Automatically heated if equiped with all weather package.

These seem to die just like the heated mirrors!

They are on all the time the engine is running. How are your heated mirrors?
