how much over invoice?

I am interested in ordering a 1999.5 A4. How much more is a fair price to pay over dealer invoice? I'll probably get a silver 5-speed A4 Quattro with most of the options (haven't decided on whether a 1.8t or 2.8 yet). Thanks!

I paid $1,000....

$1,000 (about 4.5%) over invoice for a '97 a 1.8t in May 1997.1.8t manual sunroof/remote locking Bose$23,500Hope this helps.Robert Jordan

In Danbury, CT, I just paid $850 over invoice on a '99 A4Q 1.8T manual w/ moonroof, sport package, and all-weather package. Used several brokers (auto-by-tel, Carpoint, Autovantage) to get starting quotes. All centered in the $950 over invoice range and spanned as high as $1200 over. Even Pray Audi (largest US dealer, in Greenwich, CT) was willing to come down to $1000 over invoice after some haggling when presented with these quotes. Maybe it's an end-of-year make-your-quota thing.
