is this possible (tire/rim swap) ?

i'm planning on swapping my '98 sport package 16" wheels and tires for an '01 celebration 17" wheels and tires. Is it possible? Is there any difference between the two car's sport suspension or otherwise that would prevent me from doing this -- or is it a straight swap and everything will work?
