Moving to California, Smog question

I'm planning a move from Colorado to California. Has any one had experence as far as getting your car smog cert.? Cost, time etc.? I have a 1997 A4 Quattro.

My daughter moved to CA with my old Audi Coupe. She told me....

the car will have to pass whatever smog standard the car was built for. If it is a 48 state vehicle then that's the smog standard you will have to certify.
