California people with GIAC or APR chips; questions about detonation experiences for a friend

Do you guys run into this problem on ocassion since we run 91 octane over here in Cali? And what about those hot days when temps get up to 100+? Or do you guys remedy the situation with octance boost most/all of the time? I have a feeling some people just deal with the once in a while knocks as compensation for performance, but i could be wrong.

I'm leaning towards recommending Neuspeed since I haven't had/heard any issues with the N-chip. I don't my friend's car having any issues and then blaming me :^]

i have GIAC on my 01.5, 4k no problems.

bc you know the chip can screw up your radio.

Got Neuspeed

And it too will very occassionaly ping. I'm out in the desert, where temps get up to 110 during the summer. I just recently put 5 gals of Sunoco 100, and man does it make the car purr nicely. No pinging problems with that baby in there.

I've got 58k, and I just deal with the infrequent ping or two.
