Catalytic Converter Problems...
Just came back from the dealership to check out a Emission MIL. Turns out that I need a new catalytic converter. Good news is that it's covered under warranty... i think.
Questions:
- what cause the cat. to go so quickly (i only have 73k km on the car)?
- will a blow-off valves cause this?
- is this a result of a rich or lean condition?
- if I have an after market exhaust, does this void the warranty?
- are most after market exhausts cat-back?
...Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A rich condition could cause the cat to go out early. But it'd have to be quite rich. Leaded gas can also contribute to a bad cat. They may try to say the aftermarket exhaust caused the problem, but fight that. The exhaust shouldn't cause any problems.

as does using leaded gas.
So if you have a BOV vs a bpv, then yes. A cat back won't harm it, as it's after the cat, not before.
Lastly, a badly done chip (that runs rich) can do it too.
