first things first...
Make sure to get maximum bandwidth.. Go to this website and tweak your PC to get all you can. Click on the file for your specific operating system. I have seen speeds jump from 150Kbps to 1500Kbps!<ul><li><a href="http://www.speedguide.net">http://www.speedguide.net</a</li></ul>

2K is already up to par when it comes to broadband...
The most significant improvements come from those running 9x systems.. Try it out though:
Run a speed test from here:
http://www.pcpitstop.com/internet/BandwidthTest.asp?size=5000&nr=1013320077694
then try this tweak:
http://www.speedguide.net/files/sguide_tweak_2k.zip
then reboot and run that speed test again.
