car is cutting off on me. is it the altenator?

have a 96 2.8 a4, it cut off on me at a light. everytime i'm at a standstill on the clutch it cuts off. is it the altenator?

do your lights dim or does the voltage meter go down?

if the alternator is bad, it probably will run off batter power for a short time... but you'd notice the voltage meter readings go lower as your battery drains.

no..meter is fine battery light did not come on
